The beach at Vlieland

Beach, tranquility, and sea air

The long beaches of Vlieland

Vlieland has beautiful beaches, with a long sandy beach stretching 12 kilometers along the north side of the island. There is a large sandbank on both the east and west sides of the island, with the Vliehors in the west still attached to the island, unlike the Richel in the east. Vlieland is a refuge for 100 species of birds, such as the eider duck and the herring gull.

The beaches are a wonderful place to relax: not only for people, but also for dogs. On Vlieland, dogs are welcome to run free on the beach. The beaches are well maintained and cleaned daily during the summer. The facilities are excellent, with accessible beach crossings and the presence of the rescue brigade and a first aid station within easy reach.
